Midland Avenue and Two Rivers Road sewer project
A Letter from the Board of Directors in Support of the Town's Midland Avenue Streetscape project
Basalt Sanitation District Midland Avenue Sewer Line Project
The Basalt Sanitation District is replacing sewer lines on Midland Avenue between the bridge over the Roaring Fork River and Two Rivers Road. The reason for the project is to replace aging infrastructure. The current sewer lines are 50 years old. New sewer lines will modernize this section of the system and create more efficiencies at our processing plant. In addition, maintaining our equipment will help keep rates for our customers steady over the long run.
WEEK OF 4/10 - 4/14 UPDATE
The final phase of the project is happening on Tuesday the 11th and Wednesday the 12th. That work consists of asphalt milling and re-paving on Midland Avenue and the intersection with Two Rivers Road. The work will involve a partial closure of Midland Avenue from the Basalt Library to the intersection with Two Rivers Road. Drivers needing access to Historic Downtown should plan to use Two Rivers Road from either upvalley or downvalley entrances from Highway 82. There will be alternating one-lane traffic when work is occurring in the intersection of Two Rivers Road and Midland Avenue. We thank everyone for their patience and cooperation as we finish this project.
WEEK OF 3/13 - 3/17 UPDATE
The project continues on schedule. This week, the sewer installation has crossed the intersection of Two Rivers Road and Midland Avenue, with the final section of sewer being installed in the sidewalk and entrance to the Basalt Center Circle parking lot where it will tie into the existing sewer. Construction crews are out of the road and both lanes of traffic on Two Rivers Road and Midland Avenue are open for drivers. There will be short traffic holds as the Contractor moves equipment around the site or prepares for clean-up next week from the 20th through the 24th. We are approaching the end of this project and appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation with the disruption.
WEEK OF 3/5 - 3/11 UPDATE
The project is proceeding on schedule. During the second week, sewer installation work continued with several utility and storm-water crossings that were completed. From 6:30 PM on Thursday, March 9 through 7 AM on March 10 Two Rivers Road will be closed to all traffic between Homestead Drive and Cottonwood Drive. Drivers can access Old Town Basalt via the upvalley entrance of Two Rivers Road at Highway 82. Access to Midland Spur from Two Rivers Road is also closed.
Pedestrian access to Free Range Kitchen is available to customers.
Midland Avenue between the Basalt Regional Library and Two Rivers Road continues to be closed due to construction on the Basalt Sanitation District’s new sewer line project.
The night closure is necessary to install a new sewer line across Two Rivers Road at Midland Avenue and a new water line near Midland Spur.
WEEK OF 2/26 - 3/4 UPDATE
The Project commenced as scheduled. During the first week, the street was cut to expose existing underground infrastructure and the first sewer manhole base and 14 Linear Feet of sewer was constructed. A water line serving Gold Run Ct. that was scheduled to be replaced and raised to remedy a conflict with the new sewer unfortunately required the water to be turned off to the residents and business in Gold Run Ct. for 14 hours during Monday the 17th. That water line was moved and put back into service by 10 PM on the 27th. Stutsman-Gerbaz continues to install the new sewer line going north from the Midland Avenue Bridge towards the intersection with Two Rivers Rd.
Project Dates
